The Portfolio page template lets you display all your projects in an organized and straightforward manner. This guide will walk you through adding and managing your portfolio.
To add a Portfolio page to your website:
Click on Content at the top of your website dashboard.
Select the green Add New Pages button.
Choose the Portfolio page template, then click Add.
Your new Portfolio page will automatically appear at the bottom of your page list. It will also come pre-loaded with a Projects content block.
The Projects content block, like other items list content blocks, enforces a consistent structure across all items within it. This ensures uniformity and saves you time when adding new projects.
An items list is a content block that applies the same structure to all items displayed within it. Depending on the page you're working on, these content blocks might have different names, such as:
Products
Items
Services
Jobs
Projects
If a content block looks similar to an organized list of entries, you can assume it's an items list and will apply a strict structure to all its items.
When you add projects to your Projects List, the content blocks within each project will automatically match and appear in the same order.
Both Project 1 and Project 2 will have the same content blocks in the exact same order.
This automatic formatting saves you time and effort as you add information for each new project.
When you navigate into an individual project (e.g., "Project 1"), you'll typically find two initial content blocks:
The first block is a project block. This block includes the project's title and a field to upload an image you'd like to use on your main Project landing page (the Portfolio page).
The second content block is an image gallery block, designed to showcase your entire project gallery.
If you add additional content blocks below these initial two, those blocks will also automatically appear in all your other projects. However, the content within these new blocks will not transfer; they will be empty blocks, ready for you to fill in for each project. You can add additional blocks by clicking the green (+) button on the page.
This feature is incredibly helpful for maintaining consistency and adding new projects efficiently without constantly switching between them to ensure matching content blocks.
If the landing page image (from the first project block) also appears alongside your image gallery block when your site is viewed, you can easily adjust this:
Go into one of your project pages in Design view.
Set the Project block to show text only.
You only need to do this for one project, as this design setting will automatically cascade to all your other projects in the list.
Important Note: The structure of your projects automatically synchronizes. If you remove a content block from one project, it will also be removed from all other projects in that list. For instance, if you delete a content block from "Project 1," that same content block will be deleted from "Project 2," potentially removing important content.
Warning: Unfortunately, content that has been deleted cannot be recovered.
Instead of deleting content blocks, we strongly recommend making them invisible.
Making blocks invisible will not carry over to other items on the list.
This is an excellent way to organize which blocks you need to use and which you don't without risking content loss in other projects.
