A List block is a versatile content block that allows you to link to multiple sub-pages, individual items, or categories all within one central location on your website. Depending on the type of page you've selected, this block might be named differently:
Projects block: Used on the Portfolio page type.
Events block: Found on the Event page type.
Team Members block: Appears on the Team page type.
Items List block: The general term used for all other page types.
While powerful, there are important functions and behaviors to understand before you start creating or editing an Items List.
By default, every item within a single Items List content block will share the exact same formatting. This includes the content blocks inside each individual item.
When you build an Items List, it's crucial that the information you include in each item is consistent. Here's how it works:
If your first item contains a Text block, an Image block, and a Video block, then every subsequent item you create will automatically include empty Text, Image, and Video blocks.
Similarly, if you add a new content block to any of the items in the list, that same new block will automatically appear in every other item within that Items List.
We highly recommend taking time to carefully consider the formatting and layout of your items when you create the very first item on your Items List. Once you're satisfied with its structure and appearance, you can then create each consecutive item. This approach allows you to simply drop in your desired content or images without needing to constantly modify the formatting, saving you time and effort.
Just as adding content blocks to one item automatically populates them across all other items in the List, the same applies to "deleting" blocks.
If you delete a content block from one item, it will automatically delete that corresponding content block from every other item in the list.
Example: If you've included an Image Gallery in each item on your list, but decide you no longer want an image gallery on a specific item, simply deleting the Image Gallery block from that one item will result in the deletion of all image galleries from all your other items. This can lead to unintended content loss (which cannot be reversed).
Instead of deleting content blocks from your items, we strongly recommend marking the content block as "invisible." This allows you to hide the block from public view without permanently removing it from other items in your list.
To make a content block invisible:
Click the "gear" icon (settings icon) located in the top-right corner of the content block you wish to hide.
Click the toggle switch labeled "Display" to turn it off.
This method provides more flexibility and prevents accidental deletion of important content across your entire Items List.
