Add Google Tag Manager to liveBooks
Note: This article walks through adding Google Tag Manager to your website. For adding the Google Analytics GA4 Tag, please refer to this article.
When adding Google Tag Manager to your website, you will want to make sure it "fires" on all pages. To do this, you will need to add an HTML block to your footer with one portion of code, then place the second portion of the code in the Head JS panel found under your Developer Tools dashboard.
Part 1: Obtain the tag within your Google Tag Manager dashboard
- First, you will need to create a new Google Tag Manager account. Log in to Google Tag Manager via this link: https://tagmanager.google.com
- Click Create Account on the top-right corner of the page to create a new Google Tag Manager account. If you've already created a Google Tag Manager account, then you'll click on your website name in the Container Name column, then skip to Step

- Enter the Account Name (the name of your website) and enter your website URL under Container name.

- Under Target platform, select Web, then click Create.

You may be asked to accept the Terms of Service; check the box then click Yes. - In the pop-up that appears, look at the code and in the first field box, highlight only the portion of code between. The screenshot below shows the exact highlighted code that you need. Copy the highlighted code to your clipboard.

Part 2: Add the GTM tag to your website
Once the code above is copied, open your liveBooks dashboard in a new browser tab (keep the Google Tag Manager page open in a separate window or tab, as you'll need to return to it in Step 3 below).
- Enter the Developer Tools, then select Head JS.

- Paste the copied code in the first empty line in the Head JS panel and then click Save.

- Go back to Google Tag Manager. Highlight the entire code in the second field box and copy it to your clipboard.

- Return to your liveBooks dashboard, and select Content at the top of the page.
- Select Footer on the right-hand sidebar under Global Content.

- Select the green (+) button at the bottom of the page or between your current content blocks, and select HTML from the menu that appears.

- Now, paste the code you copied earlier into the large field box of your HTML block and select the blue Save button.

- Select the green Publish button in the top righthand corner of the Dashboard to make your changes live on the site and your Google Tag Manager install is complete.
Optional: If you would like to verify that your pixel installation was a success, download this Google Chrome Extension and run it to verify your pixel.
