Point Your Domain to liveBooks

Before you can publish your website, you'll need to set up your domains and point them to our servers. Here is how to configure your DNS settings for your domain to point it to our servers:

  1. First, make sure that you have added both yourdomainname.com and www.yourdomainname.com to your liveBooks settings inside the 'Domains' area of your account.  For more on this, please click here.
  2. Login to your domain provider where your domain name is registered. If you do not know your domain provider, click here or contact support@livebooks.com.
  3. Once you are logged in, find your domain's DNS Manager page. This is the dashboard where you can add or edit DNS records.
Note: If you run into any issues locating the DNS Manager, we recommend you contact your domain registrar’s support team, as they will likely be able to help you add the following record as well.
  4. In the DNS Manager, you will want to edit the 'A' Record. If you don't yet have an 'A Record' set up, then you will want to create a new 'A' Record.
Tip: take screenshot of old DNS records so you can always revert them if there are issues.

Below are the details that you will enter for your 'A' Record:
    Setting What you will enter
    Record Type A
Host or Name @ (if that option is not available, enter your domain name without the www. i.e. livebooks.com)
    Value or Points To 35.190.10.69
TTL 600 or 3600 (depending on what your domain registrar allows - if you are unsure, or do not have these options, then stick with the default setting)
  5. Save your changes.

Note: You do not need to change your domain's nameservers, only the 'A record'. DNS changes typically take 24 to 48 hours for the change to fully take place.

If you notice that the version of your domain name with the www. in front of it does not load, then you can follow these steps to add a 'www' CNAME Record.
