Which operating system am I running?

Sometimes it may be helpful for a support rep to know your computer's operating system (OS). This article will be showing you how to determine the version of your OS for a PC or Mac.

 

A. For Mac Users

1. Select the Apple icon () in the top left hand corner of your desktop

2. Select About This Mac

3. From here you will see your Operating System title and version number

4. Type or write these details down in a note for later reference

 

 

B. For Windows Users

Windows 10

1. Select Start Start menu icon, enter About your PC, and then select About your PC

2. Look under PC for Edition to find out which version and edition of Windows that your PC is running

3. Type or write these details down in a note for later reference

Windows 7 or 8

1. Select Start Start menu icon, right click on Computer, and then select Properties

2. Look under Windows edition for the version and edition of Windows that your PC is running

3. Type or write these details down in a note for later reference
